Therapy Style

My goal as a therapist is to find solutions that work for you on an individual basis. There may be no magic button or quick-fix solution when it comes to changing things from the past that have been difficult, but I believe what we can do is work together to find comfort and resolve the difficult areas of your life, and the challenges you have to face. Through various techniques and long-standing approaches, we’ll be able to figure out what behaviors and/or thoughts might be holding you back from living your best life, and find meaning in everyday situations. I like to think of myself as a well-rounded and experienced clinician. I have worked in various settings from inpatient to outpatient, from the general community to the university setting. I am an eager and dedicated mental health professional.

Why did you become a mental health professional?

For as long as I can remember, I wanted to enter the mental health profession. As a high school student, I was lucky enough to have a transformative experience with my school counselor. As a result of my personal experience, I decided that it was my duty to offer similar support to others, especially individuals in underserved and marginalized communities that aren't always exposed to mental health therapy.

What are your interests outside of work?

I enjoy spending time with family, traveling, and interior design.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

Recently, I have been experimenting in the kitchen. Cooking and exploring in the kitchen has become a new passion. Not only is it fun, but I get to care for myself and my family- double bonus!

How do you recharge?

Travel. I try to travel with my family at least once a year. Most recently, we spent a month in Jamaica! Exploring new surroundings, meeting new people, and relaxing near a beach are all things that help me to refresh and recharge.

Do you have any pets?

I have been a cat owner for the last 10 years! My cat/son Lorenzo has been with my partner and I since the beginning of our marriage. Lorenzo has his own personality and for some reason we have been at odds since the birth of my eldest (human) child. I usually share stories of how Lorenzo tries to trip me up or frighten me in the house. He is always popping out of unexpected places and of course, I always scream in terror!
