My cat Shadow was diagnosed with feline AIDS shortly after birth but showed no symptoms beyond a high white cell count which could, of course, have many causes. So I fought the pet store and vet who wanted to put her down until it was determined that she had nothing serious at all. Six years later, she’s still terrorizing my family for treats and FaceTiming for belly rubs without once having become sick.
