Therapy Style

As a psychotherapist, I bring warmth and compassion earning the respect of my clients and admiration from colleagues for my skills and expertise. Living healthy and productive lives are goals that many clients desire when looking for a psychotherapist. The therapy relationship is a healing space to find and take the steps to a more satisfying emotional life. Using a collaborative approach and incorporating the values a client brings to the therapy experience, creates trust, dignity, and a framework for change.

I bring over 25 years of experience as a licensed mental health professional. My training in clinical social work and human development along with my study of the latest research developments in psychology and the behavioral sciences allows me to be an effective therapist. I have helped hundreds of adults, children and families overcome and manage conditions such as anxiety, depression, sleep problems, and improve interpersonal relationships with partners and family members. In addition, I have helped many clients manage stress at the workplace and increase their capacity for agency in their lives. I look forward to meeting and working with you.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your mental and emotional well-being?

I try to exercise every day. Neighborhood walks, a good stretch, a mindfulness meditation, and on the ideal day a few yoga poses keep me balanced. Classical music is a daily ritual! And yes, a good cup of coffee makes my morning routine complete.

What book have you read more than once?

So many books, so little time! One book that’s been a great refuge for me in good times and challenging times is Melody Beattie’s,The Language of Letting Go. I often recommend it to my clients as well.

How do you recharge?

My recharge is continuing my mindfulness meditation practice by attending workshops and retreats. I enjoy deepening my relationship with my adult children and their partners and those dear to me. I continue my spiritual journey through my affiliation with a local episcopal church, activism in social justice causes, and a weekly creative writing group.
