I often use principles of Dialectal Behavioral Therapy (DBT), especially the focus on distress tolerance to help with teaching patients and clients skills to manage stress in intense situations.

My Therapy Style

My therapeutic approach has been mainly trauma-focused. I have experience working with severe symptoms in clinical and group settings, I have experience leading both PHP and IOP groups for adolescents and adults in which we followed an evidence-based program. The program included meditation, art therapy, drum therapy, and yoga in addition to group therapy.

I often use principles of Dialectal Behavioral Therapy (DBT), especially the focus on distress tolerance to help with teaching patients and clients skills to manage stress in intense situations. I feel comfortable using a psychodynamic approach to explore the family of origin impact. My supervisor was heavily mindfulness-based and taught me much of her orientation as well. I have experience working with mild to severe symptoms, from mood to personality disorders. I am comfortable in crisis situations and suicidal ideations and behaviors.

Get to Know Me

Why did you become a mental health professional?

A major motivator for me to get involved in mental health was the lack of resources that were available for my community (and family) growing up. Combined with my love for fitness and sports, I knew I wanted to do something that helped people improve their overall well-being.

What are your interests outside of work?

Traveling, fitness training, boxing, basketball, playing with my dog, and spending time with family. I also have a big interest in music and art, which is what I spend a lot of my downtime doing.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

Meditation has been a major help for me to regain focus and check in with how I am doing mentally, emotionally, and physically.
