Get to Know Me

Why did you become a mental health professional?

When I was a teenager, a counselor made such a difference in my life that I wanted to help others in the same way.

What are your interests outside of work?

I love family time, quilting, travel, and spending time with our dogs.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

I have great relationship with my husband, family, and lots of cuddly pets every day. Time with them recharges me and makes it fun to do what I get to do every day.

What book have you read more than once?

The Secret Life of Bees. No matter how many times I read it, I see a different perspective and enjoy all of the emotions that it stirs in me.

Favorite organization/non-profit?

The Humane Society. Every pet deserves to be loved for their own right and not be scared and lonely. The Humane Society helps to get lost pets to new, loving homes as quickly as possible.

How do you recharge?

I enjoy just sitting outside on a beautiful day or evening and taking in the sounds of nature, or getting in the kitchen and making something for my whole family to enjoy. My free time is all about doing things that don't make me think too hard, and just enjoying what I'm doing in the moment.

Do you have any pets?

I have a houseful of rescue dogs and show beagles. I have a rejected, geriatric rescue Yorkie that was designed to be euthanized, but now he is the best cuddler every chance he can get!
