Therapy Style

Your time and your story are precious resources, so it's important to entrust them to a therapist with whom you feel safe. I am often described as relatable, humorous, direct, gentle, and compassionate.

I have come to believe that so much of what is labeled as mental health conditions, can better be described as understandable attempts at coping with untenable situations and emotions. By definition then, my approach is empowering and non-pathologizing. There is so much more right with you than wrong with you!

While I have many methods in my toolbox as a therapist, the most important is having an authentic, caring professional relationship with my clients. It takes courage to come to therapy, and I take my duty to act in your best interests very seriously.

What are your interests outside of work?

Spending time outdoors, visiting with people I care about, reading, anything related to animals

What is one thing you do daily that supports your mental and emotional well-being?

Staying organized so I can focus on what really matters

What book have you read more than once and why?

A Prayer for Owen Meany, by John Irving - incredible writing in this book, and I love stories about the underdog!

Favorite organization/non-profit?

Immune Deficiency Foundation (IDF) supports and advocates for people with primary immune disorders, which are rare conditions caused by genetic problems with immune system functioning. People with these conditions often face long delays in diagnosis, which was true in my situation.

Do you have any pets?

I have a mini-poodle. My favorite story is the time he sat quietly on my lap while I was eating a turkey sandwich – until he didn't.
