Therapy Style

I believe that we all have resources within us that help us through life's difficulties and can also provide healing, but sometimes we need a little help and guidance on our way to get back on the path that is right for us. I want to help guide you back to this route and find a connection to your “Self” again, using an approach that is tailored to your individual needs. I specialize in working with individuals who struggle with eating disorders, trauma, grief, loss, LGBTQ+, HIV and AIDS, substance abuse, as well as, anxiety and depression/bipolar. Some of my modalities include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), sensorimotor/somatic therapy, Gestalt, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS).

Pronouns

she/her

Why did you become a mental health professional?

Helping people through their suffering so they can lead a more enjoyable life. My style of working with clients fits into the humanistic psychotherapy paradigm, where I see the importance of maintaining a good connection with my clients and I see them as human beings first and foremost rather than focusing solely on their mental disorders. I have over the years included other perspectives compatible with this paradigm, including a trauma-informed care frame.

What are your interests outside of work?

Latin dancing, reading, swimming, ocean sports, meditating.

Do you have any pets?

I have a little dog and a cat, who consistently give me a lot of comfort with their gentle presence.
