My Therapy Style

Sometimes being human is just plain hard. I work collaboratively with you to assist in utilizing your strengths to get through those rough patches. You are unique in your experiences, and I draw upon multiple evidence-based therapy techniques to explore and create an individualized plan that is solution-focused and works for you. I create a safe space that fosters personal growth and allows you to feel heard and understood. We are all human, and sometimes we just need a little extra help to make it through.

Get to Know Me

Why did you become a mental health professional?

I originally began my journey in nursing school because I loved taking care of others at times when their need was greatest. After doing my psychiatric nursing rotation, I changed my major to psychology and the rest is history. I love the challenge that mental health is not as simple as looking at a lab work report and seeing what is outside of therapeutic range. I enjoy working with people to create treatment plans that work for them and allow them to reach their goals. It is rewarding to then celebrate with the client and get to a point where therapy can be terminated because the client has learned and is using their strengths and skills. I heard a quote once that said, "If you can't look on the bright side, then I will sit with you in the dark." I strive to keep that in mind, that sometimes we just need someone to sit with us in the dark.

What are your interests outside of work?

Outside of work, I love to try new restaurants, explore new places around where I live and travel to other countries.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

I love to garden and spend time with my two Labrador retriever mixed breeds.

How do you recharge?

My top two ways to recharge are to spend time in my patio garden watering and pruning my many plants. The other way I recharge is taking my two dogs to dog beaches and letting them run off leash.
