Therapy Style

I fully believe that being a therapist is what I am meant to do in this lifetime. Since graduating with my MA in Clinical Psychology in 2013, I have had the privilege of working with a variety of individuals.

I specialize in working with adults who are experiencing the following: transitions in their life (from having a baby to contemplating a career change), are recognizing that their people-pleasing, perfectionist ways are not pleasing to themselves; attempting to break free from anxiety or depression; challenges with parenting; trauma. With my collaborative, no-frills style, I can help you gain insight and help you learn how to help yourself.

Why did you become a mental health professional?

I became a mental health professional for several reasons: 1) The typical "everyone likes to talk to you!" comments and the fact that I highly enjoyed helping others made me interested; 2) I wanted to break the stigma of mental health and therapy, especially in my own culture; 3) After working several corporate jobs, I knew I wasn't meant to be in that space and that I was meant to be in a helping profession.

What are your interests outside of work?

Road trips, sleepy beach towns, reading, spending time with my husband and daughter, exploring new cities and towns, visiting new coffee shops, eating good food, and, more recently, cooking!

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

End work when I am supposed to! I keep strict boundaries with my start and end times with work to prevent myself from overworking.

How do you recharge?

I have a big "recharge" every year - my family and I take a trip every New Year for a few days and it's typically in a small beach town. For smaller recharges, I like to peruse the aisles of Target, go to the beach, see the ocean, or explore antique shops.

Do you have any pets?

I have two dogs, Lady Belmont, and Porthos. Lady Belmont is a chi-weenie named after where I used to live in Chicago. She was supposed to be my dog but somehow became my husband's dog. We almost lost her the first day we got her because she escaped my husband's grip and ran into the desert, but my husband eventually caught her and she hasn't tried to run since.
