Get to Know Me

Why did you become a mental health professional?

As a child growing up I suffered from anxiety and then when I immigrated with my parents to the United States from the United Kingdom at 14 years old suffered from depression, overcoming my struggles with mental illness inspired me to want to help others.

What are your interests outside of work?

Traveling to different countries and immersing myself in different cultures.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

Exercise and intentionally practice self-care activities such as getting massages, reading for pleasure, going for walks, and spending time with my family and fur babies (5 cats).

What book have you read more than once?

Animal Farm, I find it fascinating how the animals become human in their characteristics and rules that they were trying to get away from in the beginning.

Favorite organization/non-profit?

This is a hard one because there are many, but what comes to mind right now is the foundation that helps children with cleft issues where doctors perform free surgeries that greatly impact these children and their families' lives.

How do you recharge?

Might sound weird, but learning, taking courses, and learning new concepts.

Do you have any pets?

Yes, I have 5 cats. I started with two, and my husband had two when we met. Then, we both got suckered into taking on another sibling from the same litter as my two. It was my birthday and I had a slice of carrot cake that I left for a minute. My cat, Spice, jumped on the kitchen counter and took a bite!
