My Therapy Style

I have worked with diverse populations of individuals, couples, and families. I have an eclectic therapeutic style that includes Mindfulness, Somatic, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Psychodynamic, Solution-Focused, Mindfulness-Based Addiction and Trauma Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy.

I am an insightful and engaging therapist who supports and motivates clients to become empowered in reaching their goals and being grounded in themselves. I deeply listen and ask questions to create an open, transparent, and non-judgmental environment. By growing up in an immigrant, bi-cultural family, I understand and accept different world views and perspectives. I want my clients to tune into their inner wisdom as everyone has the gifts within themselves to grow and build resiliency when facing life’s challenges. I meet clients where they are and with gentle directness help clients face the obstacles and barriers that have been stunting their growth and happiness.

Get to Know Me

Why did you become a mental health professional?

I mentored a girl when I was in college and that experience changed my life. I realized how important it is for young people to feel supported and heard by an adult. I became interested in mental health and providing safe spaces for people to share their feelings and thoughts.

What are your interests outside of work?

I enjoy being outside in nature and I love spending time with my dog, Jesse.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

I meditate every morning for at least five minutes.

What book have you read more than once?

I have read several books more than once. I love being able to see how I understand a book at different times in my life. I read Crime and Punishment by Dostoyevsky in the 9th grade and many times after that.

Favorite organization/non-profit?

There are a number of organizations that are doing wonderful work. I love St. Jude for the work they do to support children and families.

How do you recharge?

I meditate, go into nature, go hiking, spend time with my dog, spend time with friends and family, work out, take time off to travel, listen to music, attend live concerts and shows, watch movies and tv shows, read and write.

Do you have any pets?

I have a dog I adopted from a rescue in August 2015. He is a westie-poodle mix and was left as an outside dog for the first 1-1.5 years of his life and was surrendered to the rescue by an elderly woman who could not take care of him. He had to have a few surgeries before I could meet him at his foster home. He followed me around when I visited him at his foster home. He chose me as his fur mom and I immediately fell in love with him. I changed his name to Jesse (originally Dino) and he's been my fur baby ever since we met.
