My Therapy Style

It is a brave thing to ask for help. When we ask for help, we acknowledge two things: first, that our circumstances are not what we would like them to be; and second, that we don't know how to change them. As a psychologist, it is my job to help those who are suffering navigate to a place of healing. I have many years of experience with evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-focused therapy. I tailor my approach to my client and draw from different therapeutic frameworks depending on the person and their needs.

In my work with clients, I encourage a balance of acceptance and change. Acceptance enables change, creating a safe space to deeply reflect on your needs, develop new skills, and try things you might not have thought possible. My approach is gentle and compassionate, focused on building trust and an open, supportive relationship. Only you are an expert in you. My role is to help you get to know your patterns and discover new ways to interact with the world.

Get to Know Me

Why did you become a mental health professional?

When I was a child, when my dad dropped me off at school he said, "Help the other kids." It's been my mantra since then. I've always been drawn to those in need and found my calling in mental health. I've gone through my share of hard times and it's always felt like a good path to pay forward the help and kindness I've been shown in my life.

What are your interests outside of work?

I enjoy spending time with my daughter and husband. We love playing board games and video games. I also enjoy hanging out with the cats.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

When I wake up in the morning I try to have some alone time. I make coffee, eat breakfast, and sit in the morning sun. If I have time, I like to go on a walk before the hustle and bustle starts.

How do you recharge?

I love to go on early morning walks when it's quiet and crisp outside. I also love playing video games at the end of a long day. My favorite game to play is The Sims. I love building fun houses and sharing them with other players.

Do you have any pets?

I have two black cats, Jasper and Joey. When Joey was a kitten he escaped into the attic and I spent almost an hour chasing him around the rafters while we both got covered in insulation dust. Eventually, I caught him and he sneezed dust into my face.
