Get to Know Me

Why did you become a mental health professional?

I became a therapist simply to be able to help people as we all need help and support at various points in life. I have been able to connect with people from a young age and started as a peer counselor in middle school. From this experience, I knew this was what I wanted to do for a career. The process of helping someone through a difficult time, supporting them, and being present with someone is incredibly rewarding and I'm excited to be able to reach even more people through the virtual platform and make mental health even more accessible.

What are your interests outside of work?

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my kids, family, and friends. I love music, attending concerts, reading, sports, sporting events, traveling, outdoor activities, and fitness including group workouts and runs!

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

I like to implement body awareness, self-check-ins, and breathing exercises. I try to pay attention to areas of tension in my physical self and how this connects to my own thoughts and feelings that I may have not been aware of. Breathing is great for everything from mindfulness/centering to relaxation, it's helpful at any point in the day.

What book have you read more than once?

I have read a few Dan Brown books more than once. Angels and Demons and Davinci Code have great references to history and real places as well as a unique storyline that keeps you interested!

Favorite organization/non-profit?

I don't know that I have one favorite non-profit. I support various non-profits that give back to the community, especially those that connect to our youth such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, and provide opportunities to kids that may not have otherwise had those experiences.

How do you recharge?

Family, Fitness, and Organizing! My interests are also what helps me feel recharged. Connecting with loved ones, exercising, and connecting with nature and organizing helps me find balance and I very much feel recharged when I am able to organize my space, look around, and feel at peace.

Do you have any pets?

I have a 12-year-old Pit bull named Dahlia. She has so much personality and love. Her favorite thing right now is having me tuck her into bed. Yes, she loves to sleep with a blanket on top of her and will follow me around at bedtime until I tuck her in. And in the middle of the night she will come to my side of the bed to wake me up and tuck her back in under her blanket if it comes off. Lucky me! She really is my fur baby.
