Therapy is a sacred process that has the potential to heal and catalyze growth.

My Therapy Style

Therapy is a sacred process that has the potential to heal and catalyze growth. The most important ingredient in this process is the alliance between the participants sharing the therapeutic space. This relationship serves as the foundation from which change may spring, and attendance to this relationship is integral to the way I engage in therapy. My approach honors this alliance while maintaining space to creatively develop practical treatment goals that align with your values and needs. I hope that clients leave treatment with tangible and actionable tools that they can employ outside of the session in service of their wellness.

Get to Know Me

Why did you become a mental health professional?

I became a mental health professional because it affords me the opportunity to be a part of the most sacred of experiences. It offers the opportunity to bear witness to individuals who are making heroic efforts to pursue wellness, in the midst of what are often very difficult circumstances. Being a therapist provides me an opportunity to create space for these individuals to give voice to their stories to learn and implement new ways of coping, and to connect with their sense of agency and hope. The work has been rewarding and transformational. It sustains my hope in our common humanity and potential for healing and growth.

What are your interests outside of work?

My interests outside of work include a love for the outdoors, exercise, fitness, sports, and spending time with my family.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

I go for walks daily and reserve time each day for intentional "check-in" time with my wife.

What book have you read more than once?

Awareness by Anthony De Mello. This book has helped to reset my mind and perspective. It's a useful tool for stepping outside the picture to reframe and better understand my perspectives and how they impact my reality.

Favorite organization/non-profit?

My favorite organization/non-profit is the Gathering Inn in Placer County. This organization provides supportive services and resources (emergency housing, supportive housing, medical and psychiatric care) to individuals experiencing homelessness in Placer County. I have had the opportunity to work with this organization and have seen first-hand the expertise of their staff. This, combined with their ethos of common humanity and dignity for all people whom they come into contact with has been a true gift to witness.

How do you recharge?

I like to recharge by spending time being silly with my daughters, whether it's Karaoke, hide and seek, or going out for a special treat at our favorite local bakery.

Do you have any pets?

I have a black Goldendoodle named Teddy. My favorite story about Teddy is his tendency to lose all of his hearing capabilities when he is off leash and sees another dog or person. We affectionately call him "Ear Muff Ted" in these situations as he happily saunters up to one and all when he comes across them, without a care in the world for whatever his owner may be asking him to do ("Stop! Stay! Come!")
