I have been in part-time private practice for the last five years. I have twenty years of experience establishing and overseeing services to various communities in Southern California. I like to find client strengths and build on them, identify naturally occurring supports so that between therapy sessions the client has support to continue on progress made.
I believe that life is 10% what happens and 90% how you perceive it. I use Cognitive Behavioral techniques to identify thought distortion and utilize fact-checking to dispel thoughts not based on fact. Thoughts trigger feelings which trigger behaviors. So let's start at the root. ID unproductive thoughts and replace them with fact-based thoughts. My goal is to give you skills that go beyond your time with me. Life may not get easier but we can work together to make you stronger.

As a youth, one of my siblings struggled with some very challenging mental health issues. Watching what she went through and wanting to help is what propelled me into the mental health profession.
Hiking, traveling, and theatre.
Good nutrition, lots of deep breathing, and positive self-talk.
Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follets. I enjoy the book on many levels, the relationships between the characters, the information on how cathedrals were built, and the historical perspective.
My guilty pleasure is The Great British Baking Show. Spending time with friends and family. Getting outdoors.
I have had cats for most of my life. My favorite story: my family assignment for Thanksgiving was to make the pumpkin pies. It was my first time and I wanted them to be really good. They came out perfect! I left them on the stovetop to cool while I went to change for the family gathering. When I returned my cat had eaten out the center of all three pies.
