Get to Know Me

Why did you become a mental health professional?

"As you focus on clearing your generational trauma, do not forget to claim your generational strengths. Your ancestors gave you more than just wounds." - XAVIER DAGBA

For me, the above quote perfectly explains why I became a social worker. When individuals, families, and communities have been impacted by systemic oppression, it is not uncommon for it to have a traumatic impact on their lives. I lean on my formal education and my own lived experience in the work I do. I understand that no single approach is the "right one". My goal is to create a safe space so people can address their symptoms.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

One thing I do daily is listen to music. I enjoy all types of music and find it very calming and helps me ground.

What book have you read more than once?

I have read The Alchemist more than once, it's an easy read it has great meaning behind it and I recommend it to everybody.

How do you recharge?

For me to recharge I need to spend some time alone. And then spend time doing activities with my family. That combination is really helpful.

Do you have any pets?

We have two cats at home Mustacha Alize Jenkins and Catboy. They have pretty different personalities, exactly opposite. Catboy acts like a puppy most of the time and Mustacha gives classic cat energy. She definitely looks at you like you are invading her space when you approach.
