My Therapy Style

I treat each therapy session as an opportunity to learn more about you as the client and to recognize your strengths and resilience. I am client-focused and collaborative and draw on techniques from Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. I practice from a trauma-focused lens and incorporate mindfulness activities during our sessions. I offer a warm and non-judgmental space for you to identify and explore your feelings and I view myself as your teammate in your healing process.

In the past, I have worked with clients recovering from various forms of trauma including immigration, domestic violence, childhood abuse, and strained family relationships. I also work with those experiencing parenting struggling and with individuals diagnosed with anxiety, depression, PTSD, and adjustment disorder. Together we will establish intentional treatment goals and work towards them as teammates.

Get to Know Me

What are your interests outside of work?

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with friends and family, walking my dog, and cooking new things.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

Sticking to routines is so important for my mental and emotional well-being.

Favorite organization/non-profit?

My favorite non-profit is the Brave House. They are a non-profit located in Brooklyn dedicated to supporting young immigrant women and gender expansive youth, ages 16-24, in New York, with a focus on those who are survivors of gender-based violence. The Brave House provides free legal support, community space, and holistic services, including English lessons, art therapy, self-defense classes, meditation, yoga and dancing, career advising, college visits, a mentorship program and much more. The Brave House is filling a service gap for the young people in NYC while also creating a community for their members.

Do you have any pets?

Yes! I have one dog named Freya :) My favorite story with Freya is when we went to the shelter to adopt her. She was so scared and skittish in the shelter she didn't even let us pet her. After a few minutes, the shelter took her back to her cage and explained to us that she was abandoned by her previous owners and it could take some time to warm up to us. She looked scared and nervous, but when the shelter worker locked her cage she looked straight at us and gave us the most beautiful dog smile! We knew in that moment she was ours so we adopted her and picked her up the next day.
