My Therapy Style

Hola and welcome! You have taken the first step towards getting to know yourself on a deeper level by simply being here. Therapy is a journey of self-discovery, acceptance, and healing. My goal is to offer clients a safe, non-judgmental, and interactive space to work through personal issues and grow into a better version of themselves. Therapy is the place where you can be yourself, talk freely, and gently be challenged to grow.

My personal philosophy around therapy is that it is a tool used to help you navigate and explore different aspects of yourself. All human beings need help navigating life and gaining assistance through life's obstacles from time to time. I approach my work with clients by providing unconditional positive regard, validation, genuineness, collaboration, and a form of support to help them gain new perspectives and a sense of purpose in life. I firmly believe that you know yourself best and recognize that therapy is not one-size-fits-all. I will work with you to create a tailored treatment to fit your needs.

Get to Know Me

Why did you become a mental health professional?

The feeling of being empowered at overcoming my own trauma(s), was tremendous for me and I wanted to share in getting that for others. Also, I recognized that there was so much pain and healing needing to occur in my culture and the Latinx community, and how beneficial it could be to see someone who speaks/looks like them when considering therapy services. Representation matters and can make the biggest impact when someone is looking for help.

What are your interests outside of work?

I really enjoy engaging in some kind of physical movement whether it be in the form of dance, running, hiking, or lifting weights.

What book have you read more than once?

The Gift of Imperfection by Brene Brown is a book I have read numerous times because I really love how the author talks about leaning into uncomfortable feelings instead of avoiding them to eventually feel joy and gratitude. It reminds me that in order to be authentic, I must have the courage to be vulnerable. This book was life changing for me.

Favorite organization/non-profit?

Latinx therapy is one of my favorite organizations/non-profits because they focus on destigmatizing mental health in the Latinx community. The founder has a bilingual podcast where she provides education about therapy, has developed a national directory to find Latinx therapists who speak Spanish, and provides scholarships and workshops to the community. I have personally gained so much knowledge from their services and am grateful for all they do to make therapy accessible to the Latinx community.

Do you have any pets?

Yes, I have a miniature schnauzer (Winston) and a beagle (Woody). My favorite pet story is when Winston and Woody met for the first time. My wife and I were very nervous about how they would get along because Winston is quite the jealous type. Surprisingly, they immediately hit it off very well, it was like love at first sight! They played together, shared toys, and wouldn't leave each other's side. They are inseparable to this day. My wife and I love witnessing their love and bond.
