My Therapy Style

I grew up watching the people I loved struggle due to childhood wounds. This taught me how important childhood is. As a young parent I learned how difficult it was to fulfill the role society told me was expected of parents. I strive to help parents heal their childhood wounds and focus on what's really important in raising their children.

I have a casual and relaxed approach to therapy and follow my client's lead. As my clients discuss their current concerns I help them learn from these experiences in a way they can apply to future situations. I respect my client's individuality and help them find solutions that suit them.

Get to Know Me

Why did you become a mental health professional?

I wanted to contribute to my community in a way that comes naturally to me.

What are your interests outside of work?

Gardening, crocheting, fostering kittens, baking, watching my son's baseball games, spending time with my dogs and cats, and collecting eggs from my chickens.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

I reserve the time between school drop-off and my first session to do whatever I'm inspired to do. It may be chores, self-care, administrative work, exercise, hobbies, or anything other than playing on my phone.

What book have you read more than once?

Goodnight Sweet Butterflies. I bought this book when my eldest child was a baby and I've read it to all four of my children as babies. I loved the vibrant colors of the book and I managed to not lose it despite there being 13 years between my eldest and young children. I used to have it memorized, but it's been a few years since I've read it. I still have the book and will one day read it to my future grandchildren.

Favorite organization/non-profit?

I don't have a specific organization, but I do love those focused on environmental restoration, animal rescue, and serving the homeless.

How do you recharge?

I go to bed pretty early and wake up early enough to have some time for things other than getting dressed for the day. I also take it easy on Friday and Sunday evenings. I try to keep as much unscheduled time as possible so I can choose what I want to do at the moment.

Do you have any pets?

Yes, too many! We even have backyard chickens. They were delivered to us at 2 days old in Jan 2022. Because it was winter and they were newborns they could not live outside. So we had a pet playpen set up in the middle of our living room for 6 weeks. My husband wanted baby chicks so he could become attached to them and then enjoy caring for them more. It made sense to me! Now they live right outside our sliding glass door. We even set up misters for them in the summertime. Very spoiled chickens!
