Get to Know Me

Why did you become a mental health professional?

I became a mental health professional after seeing the need and good that the profession can do. I am passionate about living a life of service to others.

What are your interests outside of work?

Gardening, spending time with family, reading, and playing video games.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

My spouse and I do a daily check-in that helps ground each other and lift each other up when needed.

What book have you read more than once?

Pride and Prejudice—I love a good classic and the romance of getting to know someone over time as first impressions are not always correct.

Favorite organization/non-profit?

I have been involved with the American Red Cross since childhood as my dad became a volunteer after returning home from the Vietnam War. My mom was then director of Services to Armed Forces and International Relations for CT and RI for many years. We have an ongoing joke that our family does not volunteer but is "voluntold" to help. I love the work they specifically do for restoring family links in which they work internationally to locate family members lost due to war and refugee crises.

How do you recharge?

I take some time to engage in one of my interests outside of work like reading or getting out into my garden.

Do you have any pets?

I have 10 chickens, a cat, and a dog. The chickens (Eggwina, Eggbert, Henrietta, etc.) are very food-oriented and will flock towards you as soon as you open their coop. Eggwina in particular loves to sleep on anyone's lap.
