My Therapy Style

I approach therapy as a collaborative process rooted in respect and the understanding that, while I may know all kinds of mental health treatment techniques, you are the expert in your experiences. We bring our expertise together in sessions to uncover your wisdom and help you develop skills that will lead to meaningful change. My therapeutic style is authentic, curious, non-judgmental, and calm. I work from a culturally responsive and trauma-informed lens to offer you a safe space where you can work toward your goals while staying grounded in your values.

Get to Know Me

Why did you become a mental health professional?

I have had a passion for helping people and for understanding why people do the things they do for as long as I can remember. In my first job out of college, a therapist showed me how the mental health profession could help me turn both of these passions into a fulfilling career.

What are your interests outside of work?

I enjoy connecting with good people and eating delicious food. If one or both of those activities can be done outdoors, even better.

Favorite organization/non-profit?

I love Postpartum Support International (PSI) because they try to create a better future by helping families get a strong and healthy start together. PSI’s comprehensive approach to addressing perinatal mental health issues includes support for individuals and families, training for providers, and legislative advocacy. The best part is that most of their offerings for families are free.

Do you have any pets?

I have a mixed-breed dog, a pure cuddle bear, who we adopted from a rescue group several years ago. The first time we took her camping, we were concerned that she might be so excited about the noises in the campground, and she’d keep everyone awake all night. To our surprise, when we went to bed, she burrowed into the bottom of the nearest sleeping bag and snoozed until dawn. Apparently, her need for warm cuddles outweighed her need to know what was making noise outside our tent.
