I have always had an inclination to help others. As a first-generation immigrant and college student I saw the need for culturally sensitive care to various populations. I enjoy empowering others to reach the harmony and balance they are seeking.
I enjoy spending time in nature. I enjoy hikes and the beach.
Daily walks with my dog provide me with joy and relaxation.
Man's Search for Meaning by Victor Frankle. I find his writing to be very moving and inspiring. His message of maintaining a sense of self in the meaning we assign to our experiences, even our most difficult ones, resonates with me.
Foster Kinship Care programs through community colleges. They provide services for resource parents and relative care providers of children in foster care, as well as life skills classes for foster youth. Not only do they provide their academic program, but provide a sense of community. I started my career as a DCFS worker and this population has always had a special place in my heart.
I create balance by making sure I take time for myself to relax, meditate, or do physical activities. I enjoy watching comedies and being in nature as much as possible.
I have two dogs. I have always loved dogs and when my daughter was born she became an animal lover. So we have had a share of pets in our home. I have a 6-year-old mixed breed Lab/St. Bernard-Lucy and when our puppy Toby joined our home, a Pomeranian, it was hilarious to see how this tiny pup bossed Lucy around. They have become great siblings since then.
