I am warm, directive, engaging, and psychodynamic in orientation and style. Get to Know Me

Why did you become a mental health professional?

I became a therapist because I experienced powerful change and growth in my own healing journey. Recognizing the profound impact of this work on the heart and soul of my fellow humans, I felt drawn to it, seeing it as perhaps the most important work there is.

What are your interests outside of work?

I'm passionate about life balance and self-care, which includes maintaining a community of other like-minded individuals and tending to the mind-body connection for optimum wellbeing. If not in the office, you'll find me outdoors enjoying the deep connection of nature and sunshine, something that often involves travel and adventure and spending time with my husband and grown children.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

Daily silent meditation and reflection, accompanied by movement and stretching to set the tone and energy for my day.

What book have you read more than once?

The Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous. I was introduced originally when I began my own journey of recovery in 2015. Every time I open it, I find newness and clarity that I perhaps had never seen before; it also helped me learn the value of dropping the ego and living a mindful life.

Favorite organization/non-profit?

Lomi Community Clinic. My original professional training was cultivated through this organization and they continue to thrive, offering affordable mindful-based therapy to the community throughout Sonoma County. They have endured the test of time, operating since 1989.

How do you recharge?

I recharge by maintaining a healthy balance of professional and personal commitments, and making sure that my own mental and physical needs are included in life's demands.

Do you have any pets?

Zorro Cat, a ragdoll breed, adopted me after his first human died. As we were getting to know each other, one day I found him lifeless on the bed, with a string coming out his mouth. As I began to pull, and pull, and pull the string out, he suddenly jumped back to life as if nothing had been amiss. In about 10 days, it happened again for a brief moment. Lesson learned: This little guy cannot be trusted with strings…which means he definitely improved my household cleaning skills. Blame it on the cat!
