My Therapy Style

In therapy, you have the opportunity to address challenges and struggles while learning effective coping skills in a non-judging environment. I assist you by providing a non-biased perspective and together we develop goals that are reasonable and achievable. As a mental health professional, I have had the remarkable opportunity over the last 15 years to work with diverse populations and a wide range of clients which include adults, couples, and families. I am here to walk alongside you on your journey, together we can work at moving from "surviving" to "thriving."

I am a Facilitator for Prepare/Enrich pre-marital counseling and I provide individual, family and group counseling through the Victims of Crime Program (VOC), and EAP. Furthermore, I currently am a Clinical member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.

Get to Know Me

Why did you become a mental health professional?

When I was in high school I noticed I was the friend that all the other friends came to when they needed to talk to someone. It seemed natural and something I enjoyed. Going back even further, in middle school I signed up to be a peer counselor to be of support to fellow students who needed someone to talk with outside of their school counselor. I guess it's safe to say it's been a part of me before I was able to recognize it!

What are your interests outside of work?

I love physical activity, running has become my big interest over the last few years, and taking on marathons in different states and cities is a new passion. I also love to dance as this is something I started at an early age and have since been able to pass on our cultural tradition of Mexican Folklorico to my daughters.

What is one thing you do daily that supports your well-being?

I make sure to exercise on a daily basis!! If I'm not running, I am at the gym working out. I also make sure to give myself 5-10 minutes of quiet in the middle of the day, I practice deep breathing and use that time to reflect on the day.

How do you recharge?

I enjoy spending time with my family watching movies, going to the movies, going on walks, or visiting theme parks. I love being able to be spontaneous and go on adventures spur of the moment, that might mean making a trip to the La Brea Tar Pitts or checking out the newest local restaurant, sometimes that means going for an ice cream or donut run!

Do you have any pets?

I was fortunate to grow up on a mini farm that includes a pony named Pepper, chickens, rabbits, dogs, and a goat named Annie. As a child, our pet goat was extremely protective of my father and one day when he and I were standing next to one another she came up from behind and charged me with her horns. Now, having a family of my own we have a loveable beagle named Bailey the Beagle Hernandez. She was my husband and I's first "baby" and is an integral part of our family.
