Our mission is to make high-quality family therapy accessible by working with insurance companies to cover mental health services in-network. Over 95% of our clients pay an average of $28 per session through insurance.
We are in-network with most Anthem, Aetna, Cigna, Health Net, and UMR plans. At this time, if you are insured through Medicare, Medicaid, Medi-Cal, or Tricare we are not able to provide services to these beneficiaries due to associated regulatory requirements. Octave takes the time to learn about you and your family’s unique concerns. Upon signing up under the primary insurance holder’s name, you will complete a short questionnaire to indicate your family’s specific needs and preferences. After completion, you may have the opportunity to self-select a provider, while some may opt to be matched to a provider by our Care Navigation Team. You may also be asked to schedule a consultation with a Care Navigator if we require more information in order to match.
Our Care Navigation Team will thoroughly review your onboarding questionnaire to learn about your unique needs and preferences. Using specialized knowledge on Octave’s providers, your Care Navigator will match you with the best possible fit.
Octave provides family therapy for clients who are over 18. Family therapy consists of 2 or more clients and can be done in-person or virtually as long as the clients are in the same state that their provider is licensed. During sessions, each family member is present in care and the focus of treatment is usually focused on helping the family improve their connection, support one another and improve their communication.
Therapists or providers who have experience in specialized modalities such as Structural Family Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy and have experience treating more than one client at a time in family therapy would be the best match.
Family therapy may be right for you if your family is experiencing conflicts that seem unresolvable, communication breakdowns, or if there is a specific issue affecting the whole family, such as divorce, loss, or trauma. It’s also helpful if individual therapy hasn’t been sufficient in addressing issues that are deeply rooted in family dynamics. If family members are willing to work together to improve relationships, family therapy can be a good option.
Therapy is working if you notice positive changes in how you feel, think, and behave. For family therapy, this might include improved communication, reduced conflict, better understanding among family members, and a greater sense of connection. Progress might also be seen in the way family members handle disagreements or stress. Keep in mind that progress can be gradual and may include small, incremental improvements over time.
The duration of therapy varies depending on the issues being addressed, the goals set, and the progress made. Many families may see improvement even after just one month, while others might need longer. It’s important to regularly evaluate progress with your therapist and adjust the frequency and duration of sessions as needed. Ultimately, therapy lasts as long as it takes to achieve the desired changes, which is different for each family.
